The event, which welcomed nearly 29,000 attendees, has been also a successful platform for Kiefel. During the entire show the Kiefel Booth was well frequented by existing customers and new contacts. Most conversations with the Kiefel sales team concentrated on high-performance pressure forming machines of the series KMD SPEEDFORMER and market trends for food packaging.
Steel rule technology is used for this applications known as a solution for inexpensive tooling, fast tool change and depending on material, running cycles of up to 60 cycles/min.
Kiefel can offer a range of different size machines from the KMD64, the midsized KMD78 Speed up to the KMD90 with an index of up to 37”. “Depending on output requirements, high productivity and product quality the customer will find the right solution”, says Markus Zlotosch, Vice President Packaging Sales, Brueckner Group USA, Inc. “And by using the KIEFEL CAT system the customer will drastically reduce tool debugging, increase production time and gain high productivity overall. Less material consumption and less energy consumption will help the customer to easily justify the investment.”
Another growing market has been recognized in coffee capsule and water cups produced on Kiefel Thermorunner KTR6Speed.
Convenience is a driving factor for another highlight in beverage packaging, the coffee capsule. In the meantime it is also offered for tea and other drinks. It is a multilayer cup either based on PS or PP.
Kiefel has realized several projects in North America, Europe and Asia with up to 91 cavities producing more than 150.000 coffee capsules per hour on one KTR6Speed.
The Kiefel thermoforming division is still breaking records and according to Thomas Huber, Director Sales Packaging Industry, “There will be steady growth in food packaging including trays, containers and hinged packs worldwide definitely within the next 5 years driven by 3 factors: growing world population, even more urbanization and a growing middle class worldwide!”
